AN X Factor hopeful has turned down Simon Cowell’s offer of a second shot at stardom.

Mali McCalla auditioned for the 2008 show and made it through to the judges’ houses stageof the contest. He was one of six lads being mentored by Cowell, who called him “very talented with a unique voice”.

But the 49-year-old failed to pick him for the live finals.

This week Mali, 16, again turned up for the latest X Factor auditions in London. He was supporting his dad Noel, 52, who had decided to try his luck in the contest.

Reggae musician Noel impressed the judges but Cowell spotted Mali waiting for his dad in the wings and called him on stage.

The music guru said: “Do you want to try again?” But Mali declined.

A source said: “He just didn’t want to put himself through it all again.”
